In HELLO!
My name is Shawn Moore, and I am excited to be a part of the MMSTC family and part of your learning experience!
I will be teaching Functions, Statistics, and Trig. (FST) and Calculus this year.
A Bit About Me...
I have lived in New Baltimore for most of my life, and am a 2010 graduate of Anchor Bay High School. I graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Biology, with minors in Mathematics and Integrated Science. I am certified to teach both Science and Math at the secondary level. In Spring 2020, I completed my Master's in Educational Leadership (K-12 Administration) through Eastern Michigan University. In 2023, I was named Warren Consolidated Schools' High School Teacher of the Year, as well as the Macomb County High School Teacher of the Year.
Prior to joining the team MMSTC, I have taught Math, Science, and STEM in both the middle and high school settings. I love teaching Science and Math, helping to show students how these concepts and ideas truly apply to the world around them. I try to teach my students in a way that is relevant to their world, so I try to incorporate many labs, activities, investigations, and discussions into class.
In my free time, I love to stay busy! In the fall, you can typically find me at school events, or outside with my family. On Saturdays in the fall, I am typically found in front of the TV watching college football, rooting on the Spartans. I also enjoy traveling.
In my classroom, you can expect to be respected by me and your peers, and safe to express your viewpoints. I am your biggest "cheerleader". My job is to push you academically, but giving you all of the supports and resources that you need to be successful.
Remember, we have a lot to learn this year... but How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Email is the preferred method of communication, as I check it many times a day. I would be happy to respond or follow up with your questions as soon as possible.
